The fish to have here on the west cost of the USA seems to be the flower horn. They are selling for lots of money and seems like many people are buying them. I never heard of them till this year. Personally I think they are VERY ugly and I would NEVER want one. What is the draw with these fish. I see a fair amount of them for sale on Craigslist too.

I guess they are not NW cichlids they are from Asia and are hybreds. I did not know where else to post this.

Many are bred in Asia, but most are indeed hybrids among various NW cichlids.

the flower horn is a hybrid fish with many morphs and like you said can cost a lot of money.
they have gained great status just like the fancy goldfish years ago a perfect oranda will cost a small fortune.

I have two. They are about as friendly as an oscar, fearless, lots of attitude, and they all are all slightly different as far as colour, size, shape.I have not found a better fish personally.Your right they are expensive.

Their heads freak me out. I never met one. I will take your word on them haveing a good personality. They are a status thing now?
