Why Do We Have Some Mods That...

Why do we have some mods that are almost never on. 1 hasn't be on in 3 months, another almost a year.

peoples lives change and so does the amount of time they can or can not spend here.
keep in mind the mods do their jobs for no pay and quite often no public appreciation.

so what if a few haven't been here for a while, those that are here do a dammed fine job!

A mods job is to help run the board. Kind of hard when they rarely log on

Not being rude towards the mods here, just making a generalization for all mods on all forums

I took it as they were trying to make the point of "it's pointless for them to be mods since they are rarely here"

My point was what socal mom was saying. Why are they still mods if they aren't here. WHat I'm saying is if they don't have the time then they maybe you should get more mods to take their place? Please don't get offended as people often do when I point things out like this and then they priceed to rip me apart for being non-understanding, believe me I understand time constraints etc.. Yes as a member I agree with you wolf, but a mod?? They were great mods I'm sure, but if your not on for almost a year at least once to check in, you should get some more mods then. Again don't take offense, I was just thinking that this may be food for thought for william or the other mods.

im sure william is aware of it and probably has no reason to think much of it. Is it really making any difference? If william thinks more mods/different mods are needed then he will do so.

Im also wondering why you put aside the time to even find this stuff out

but there is always mods on.It doesnt matter if some come on rarely.It saves stopping people from being mods and picking new ones every time one dont come on for a few months,Like someone above says peoples lives change.

Mods who aren't present are discussed and some are given 'emeritus' status. Others, as mentioned, have changes in life, business stuff, school, etc, and briefly are tied up. That doesn't mean that they should be ousted. In general, we have overlap. Eg, although in nano, I have 2 FW tanks and also marine background. I can, cover marine, nano, areas of FW and ER if needed. Such is with most mods here. Yes..from time to time we end up with loopholes and Admin needs to add mods.

If anyone feels that there is an area that needs modding...or is deficient in an area...feel free to post here.

Basically what it boils down to is that it is none of our business who gets to keep their "Mod" title and who doesn't. If it created a problem then it would be our obligation to step up and say something, but thats not the case here. I know one mod went on deployment to Iraq, you can't really expect him to jump on in between dodging bullets everyday. And I really don't think that's a reason to strip him of his title....

i'd say that hybrids needs a *designated* mod; the pinned topics definitely need to be cleaned up and it would help keep threads under control. hybrids doesn't have many incidents, but the ones that flare up are generally quite nasty.

which is silly but if someone who didn't hate hybrids was officially assigned there, then CFC wouldn't have to visit so much (love you CFC; please don't ban me )

thing is there are enough mods on the forum to allow for a few to be absent temporarily without it upsetting anything, the day to day running of the forum can manage fine with a couple of mods missing.

I understand where the original question came from but not the hostility and irritation that it was asked. It's a valid question but some of you are treating it like some kind of grave insult to the forum or the absent mods in question. Lighten up. If I didn't know better, I'd be asking the exact same thing. The only reason I haven't is I know how needlessly defensive and obtuse some of the mods' defenders can be when anyone dares question something regarding them.
