Why didnt I notice that the washing machine, that is on the other side of the wall to the tank, gives it a earth quake every time it spins

No way the washing machine can be re-positioned so I'm gonna have to shift the tank to the other viable position in the room, which ironically was where we were originally gonna put it.

The plan is to transfer the water and fish to the very large bucket and stick the heater in. I'll have to remove the decor to be able to get the fish. Hopefully I'll then be able to slide the cabinet and tank to the new position and re-instate the decor, water & fish.

This should take less than an hour so I'm hoping it'll just be like a water change. Any thoughts?

The other plus point to the plan is that the tank will then be in a quieter location and not on a walk through route which also spooks the little guys. Of course the annoying part of this is I could have got a slightly bigger tank. Oh well the power of hindsight huh

I'd think so long as you didn't let anything dry out you'd be OK. You might want to get an extra bucket or two so you can hang on to more of the original tank water though.

Yeh, i was planning on putting about 80% back if i can. I was gonna put all the rocks and stuff in a seperate bucket with tank water.

sucks that you have to move it but sounds like you have worked out a good plan. make sure you put your filter media in on of the buckets also.

If all goes to plan I wont need to disconnect the filter at all. Its housed in the cabinet so hopefully it will be still set up and full of water just switched off for a bit.
