is it ok to put my fw clams in my newly cycled tank? or is there a chance when they die they will polute the water...when they die how will i tell thet they are dead???
Possibly the biggest problem with many freshwater bivalves is that if they breed, the lavae are paracitic and burrow into the skins of fish producing ulcers that evenually burst to let the baby molluscs out. This leaves the fish weakened and injured and prone to disease.
when the river my me gets low you can see the clams they are vertical and are always sticking out just enough so you can see the holes where they take in the water
