Who Are Lfs?

Hi there

I have been reading through a few of the notes on this wall and seemed concerned as many of you are mentioning a company called LFS. They seem to give poor advice and for future reference want to know where they are, so that I can avoid them??

Hope someone can enlighten me.

This made me grin LFS stands for "local fish store" so whatever fish shops are close to you would be your LFS.

They are everywhere and often use different names in order to disguise themselves!!!!

Just kidding... LFS is actually an acronym for "Local Fish Shop/Store", so people are often just referring to their own without naming them. So to avoid the bad ones mentioned, you would have to find out the name of each individual shop that is mentioned in a thread.

However, there is a thread somwhere (can't remember right now) that allows people to post up information about their "LFS" and give them a rating/comment on others. If I find it I will post it here for you

I had that same question a few weeks ago then i figured it out by myself some how. My lfs went out of business latley but luckily in neighboring towns there is a petsmart, petco and some other fish stores including The Wet Spot which has the largest selection of freshwater fish in the Portland, Oregon area. Near my home is also The World of Wet Pets which ive never been too but heard of. There are man fish/pet stores near my house.

ive gone to world of wet pets several times and they are very helpful in getting a GOOD tank

do NOT go to petco because they dont know anythinga bout fishes they are really just cashiers who happen to be selling fish.

When I first joined the forum, I asked what does OP mean

as the thread constantly referred to the OP (which was me) lol.

Found out it meant Original Poster. You live and learn (and I felt just a bit stupid)

Took me about 5yr to work out LOL (laugh out loud (I hope)), I used to get quite angry thinking people were insulting me!!!
