Right,

Ive had my tank stocked since March and never had a problem, just a few platies have passed away.

3 days ago, at 4pm everything was fine, @ 6pm all 3 loaches had white spots all over them!

Imeadiatly treated with WS3 & raised the temp a bit & did a full water test.

Water test came back as

Amonia - 0
Nitrite - 0
Nitrate - cant remeber but was in the good field
pH - 7-7.5
GH & KH were both in recommended fields.

Ive had the lights off etc and have not done a water change as instructed on medication.

Loaches were still very playfull and seemed fine, but tonight ive come back after a night out and one was dead & the other 2 dont look too good i.e. i put my hand very close to them to put some food right in front of them.

Also my angels dont look too good and dont have the apitite they usual have.

2 of the 3 platies dont look good.

Plec seems fine, as do the 3 ruby barbs & 6 neon tetras.

Im absolutly gutted, and i think by morning our loaches will be dead, as will at least one platy.

Any advice? why/how has this happened in such a quick time after being fine since march? and how come water is still good?

From what i've read, clown loaches are extreamly suscepitble to ich.
You have done everything you can do for now, it's a question of continuing and hopeing.
Sorry I can't be more help.

Clown Loaches are highly susceptible to White Spot and it spreads rapidly. The best thing to do IME is to raise the temperature a couple of degress and treat with a medication called Protozin, normally clears up infections pretty fast. :)

sorry to hear of your loss.
:(
I've just had a clown loach with ich. in fact he/she had it when purchased and i never noticed it.
Did you remove the carbon sponge whist treating?

yea, didnt think for a day to remove the carbon though :-( so i guess first lot of treatment was wasted.

Ill know next time.

Tanks just not the same anymore without them, gonna get some more in a few months when i hope everything is perfect again.
