I hope you are better now , keep smiling. The treatment that I have used says after the first dose wait 4 days then dose again then wait 7 days and then do a water change, It will do my head in waiting that long but what ever works I will do.

Best to follow the instructions.
I had to do two rounds when my fish had it.
If whitespot hasnt gone when finished the course, do a water change add some black carbon for a day, then start the treatment again, but don't forget to remove the black carbon again.

I was reading your post the same day i noticed my fish had it, Sorry you lost so many fish. I really hope I caught it in time . The fish that have the white spot were a birthday gift for my daughter and if we loose them it would be awfull.

Stats were done yesterday followed by a water change they read the same as they have done for months ph-7 nitrite-0, nitrate-0, ammonia 0 A friend told me it may be because i do water changes too often , I recently transfered all fish to a new tank and the 3 three fish that seem to have the spots were the ones that were most difficult to catch. I havent added any thing new in the last 3 weeks I water change every 3-4 days i recently added a new filter im running it with a matured filter

Are you sure you have no Nitrates? That's very unusual.

did a 50% water change
rised my temp from 26 (79) to 30 (86)
keep treating them

thats what my lfs told me to do and it worked BUT i still had some dead fish.

Hi, I'm a newbie so be gentle with me!

I've lost a few fish to white spot recently, feel really guilty about not spotting it sooner I have been treating them with some stuff from the aquarium shop and fingers crossed there is a marked improvement in most of the remaining fish. It was only my tetras who were affected though, my 3 corys are as healthy as ever and my few non-tetras are fine. Following the instructions on the medication I need to give them one more treatment in 3 days time, but then what?

When do I continue medicating? How do I know it's completely gone?

Finally, when will it be safe to start introducing new fish again? I have a child with special needs who loves to watch the fish so I like to keep an array of brightly coloured fish, although I do stick to the peaceful ones for ease of care.

Thanks for the reply Wilder The medication instructions say to treat on days 1, 2, 3 and 6. I have done days 1-3 so far, day 6 will be Monday. So do I change the water the day after that then start again? Sorry I'm a bit confused

Sounds like the waterlife med.
Yes perform the water change and gravel vac and just start again.
You could run some black carbon for a day and remove it before you add the med and do the full course again.

OK thanks, that's great I'm happy to say that even the worst affected (still living) fish is looking much better and only has one or two spots now I'll do a water change later in the week, after the last treatment, I think I have some black carbon somewhere so I'll do that too.
