White Spot

Hi, another newbie here...

Can whitespot show up very quickly? My neon tetras were fine yesterday, but today one seems to have six or seven small white specks. I'm going to get a treatment tomorrow, I just hope it's soon enough... :(

Yes whitespot can hit fast best to get treating straight away.
Stress can cause an outbrreak, has temp gone up or down, or performed a water change where the temp was quite away off the tank temp.
Good luck.

No, I did add 4 new fish earlier today though... but they weren't tetras, if that makes any difference.

Yes the new fish have passed it on then.
Raise temp to 30 for now, increase aeration as the med and high temp reduce 02 in the water.
When you add the med don't forget to remove black carbon if you use it.

Thank you! I've done what I can for now. Erm, I've never even heard of black carbon in tanks... but I'm a newbie to tropical fish as well as the forums! BTW is it worth getting an airstone too?

Black carbon is black coarse sponge in your filter, need to remove it as it removes meds from a tank, thats all you really need black carbon for.
Yes I would innvest in an airpump they are good for lots of thing, meds, hot weather, some fish like to play in the bubbles.

Thank you! I'll be sure to check my filter before I add anything. I think I might have some, as there are three sponges in my filter. You've been really helpful, I appreciate it! :good:
