White crap growing in Amos' tank

Hi BettaMomma

I'm so sorry. R.I.P. Amos. :byebye:

You know, he's in fishy heaven now and he will be watching over you when you go to the lfs to pick out his successor. All that he went through will help this new fish live a better, healthier and happier life with you.

Very true, Inchy.
I think I might start looking for a new fishy over the weekend.
I want to find one similar to Amos, but I've not before or since seen one that even looks remotely like him. It might take me a while but I'll know when I have found the right one.

Thanks again everybody.
I never ever knew that I could get so attached to a fish.

He's in a better place than we are now I'm pretty sure - with no diseases, no little plastic cups and plenty of clean water and food. I'll surely miss him TONS.

Jeez BettaMomma, you're making me want to go out and rescue a betta like yesterday! Only thing is, unless he'd go well in my 75 gal tank with gouramis and a pleco, I'd need to get a tank....but it's all your fault!

R.I.P. Amos, bettamomma sorry for your loss, you tryed everything for him so don't feel to bad, it's just apart of the hobby you have to do now and then.

Well, Ang - if you do get a betta and you need someone to babysit, you know who to contact. And I promise I wouldn't try upgrading his tank while you were gone.

Wilder - thanks for all your help and encouragement. It was really nice to be able to communicate with so many great people thru this whole thing - cuz my family and coworkers just don't understand how much fish mean to some of us... (they all think I'm nuts)

Luckily I still have little Jasper here with me and he's improving every day.
It's kind of weird - over the past few days when Amos got really sick and his coloration left him, it seems like Jasper turned more red. Almost like he knew what was going on and was doing it in honor of Amos.

OH...
and Ang - you can get a betta, decorations, heater, tank and fish for about 35$ at PetWorld.

Bonnie my 19 year old cat has gone missing and it's not like her at all, thinking the worse, so my day isn't a good one either.

Sorry for your loss, BettaMomma. I have been following each and every one of your posts and I was praying that Amos would get better. You really make me want to run out and rescue a sick little betta. You inspire me, BettaMomma, with the way you tried to tackle Amos' sickness and with the way you never gave up. If you ever need some more people on the Betta Bus, I'll help. =)

You guys are some awesome people.
Thanks again to everyone for keeping up with Amos' progress (or lack of, I guess).

Wilder - i'm sorry to hear about your kitty. I hope you find her!! -_-

One positive thing that's helped me to get thru this is seeing how incredibly well Jasper has done. He's swimming around his tank right now like he was never sick. I guess I kind of just thought through this whole ordeal with Amos that if I could bring Jasper back from near death, I could beat darn near anything that happened to a fish. I guess not. But, he is very happy and healthy now. He does still have some blood spotting under his skin, but they seem to be fading with time. He's very active and eats like a piggy.

Angie - a heater is technically a luxury item for your betta, but they really do need one to be really happy. Amos never bubblenested until I got him a heater - then he went to town. The flat hydor heaters are the greatest things - and they go great with the 2.5G tanks. I hope you get one!!!

You know - the other day I was in PetWorld here in town and they had CrownTails!!! I went home and thought about it and decided I wanted the one they had left, so I called there to have them hold him for me but he was already gone. I asked if they would be getting more in soon, and they are going to order some more soon!

OH! and about the airstone - I have a really slight bubble drip going in Jasper's tank, but I had that in his tank from the beginning because of his severe illness and meds that he was on, I added the aeration to the tank to try to help him. I just never took it out because I didn't want to do anything to stress him. You don't need one in the tank with them - in fact the less current the better for them, but I do like to have one in my tanks just cuz then it keeps that nasty filmy stuff from building up on top of the tank. and, Jasper likes to swim thru the little bubble stream. :)

Thanks she turned up a 6,oclock this morning one relieved cat owner, she got the biggest cuddle of her life, just wasn't like her at all to go missing, she barely wonder off at all.
