well i have a few neon tetra, 1 cardinal tetra, 3 rummy nose, 2 black neon tetra and 3 bumble bee goby. Over the last three day 2 neon tetra have died, one looked like it had swim bladder but the fins on the other one were shredded and tawn. now today when i got up my cardinal tetra has a small 2mm bite on its side. Out of these fish which do you think are the cullprets? thankyou

Plzz help!! i wanna get the murderers out of the tank i dont know which one... which is most likely??

well i started this tank in november but last week i swapped my substrate for sand. i put the same filter in the tank and i put 50% of the old water back into the tank. then when the heat was right i moved my fish back in.

I would have an educated guess and if the neons were small and the gobys are quite larger than thm, I'd place a bt on it being the gobies. Also, bumble bee gobies need brackish water to live healthily.

the gobies are around the same size as the neons.

yeah hadnt thought of that, that could explain it. maybe a water test would be best done.

bite mark likely occured after death - all fish will canibalise dead fish. None of your stock is likely to kill each other.

please take note of the point made about the gobys needing a brackish set up.

the one with the bite is still alive 2 are dead and my cardinal has the gash/bite.

PH = 7.5

nitrate = 0

nitrite = 0

GH = 60

KH = 40

i have had a look round my tank no signs of ich etc all the other fish look okay

What are you using to test with. A Nitrate reading of 0 from what should be a fully cycled tank is very suspicious.

im using API 5 in 1 aquarium test strips, measures PJ nitrate, nitrite, carbonate and general hardness.

How much nitrate should there be???
