Which Gn Is This?

You can clearly see (despite the weird effect) that the fish you posted in the first pic doesn't have any bright golden yellow on the tail or fins, it has that clear/tannish colour that BNs have (my female looks exactly the same). Also, if you look at the pectoral (? bad at terminology, first fin on the side next to the head :D) of the pic of the gold nugget, you can see it is a completely different shape. Your BN has a fan-shaped fin where as the gold nuggets is more streamlined.

You can argue all you like but I wouldn't be surprised if your 'golden nugget' suddenly gets stubble :D

LOL.... this thread made me smile..... to clarify what the correct people have mentioned (everybody but the OP lol)... the plec you initially pictured is a common bristlenose.... it makes no difference to what YOU think it is.... all you need to know is that it is 100% NOT a golden nugget lol.

You can continue to argue to your hearts content but the end result will still be... that you have a common £3 BN plec. You have been given the CORRECT id now from various people, including some very well respected plec keepers aswell as some with many many years experience and yet you still continue to disagree.

Can i ask why you originally asked the question if you are adamant that you are correct and everybody else was going to be wrong?

Another pointless response .

I don't see how? Nearly all of the responses have informed you that the fish you have is not a Gold Nugget. That would seem like good advice to me and a reason to take the fish back to your LFS and demand a refund (if they sold it to you as a GN?)

Another pointless response .

And your response was .....?

What are you hoping for?, the thread to continue long enough for somebody just to agree with you that it's a golden nugget?.... ok then the fish you pictured is a GN.... this seems to be what you want to hear even if it's wrong..... Now you can go back to playing in your sand pit with a big smile on your face :good:

so how much did op pay for this "gold nugget" i have over 30 available if he wants them!!!

Is it necessary for another to person say that picture posted by the OP is definitely NOT a Baryancistrus xanthellus (aka 'Gold Nugget')?

We'll see.
