In light of the info I have recently been given, here are my final plans.
Since tiger barbs can't be kept with discus, here goes. Charlie will get his own tank, and the clown loach is going back to the LFS. The discus may or may not be going back. If he does, option 1:

6 zebra danios
10 tiger barbs
1 rainbow shark
3 platies (2 of which I already have)
5 peppered cories

If I decide to keep him, option 2:

1 discus (already have)
3 pearl gouramis
3 angelfish
3 platies (2 of which I already have)
3 peppered cories

Please refer to the "starting from scratch" thread for more info.

Also if you vote please reply and say why. I need justification for my option.

Well, Barbs I like but the angelfish gouramis and your discus will be a beautiful seen !!! In my opinion it will look more like a beatiful body of tropic water in stead of plain black and white schooling fish in an aquarium

Hey David!

I'd go with option 1. Discus really like to be kept in groups and I know that's not really the best option for right now.

So, if the lfs will take him back, I would do that and go with option#1.

Oh, and to answer a question from your other thread - I would definitely not keep Charlie in there if you get tiger barbs. Those long fins are just BEGGING to get nipped to shreds.

Although I would go with 9 tiger barbs and then you could get in more zebra danios. They are definitely better in bigger numbers.

Good luck!!!!

Yes I was thinking that too Kristin. If the LFS will take him back that's most definitely what I will do. And I won't keep poor little Charlie with tiger barbs, even though he is a plakat and his fins aren't really that long. Oh man. It's going to be really hard to part with that discus though. *sigh* Hope it goes to a really good home.

Lets add another option into the mix, option 3. This is option 2 without the discus. Forget option 2 that is no longer an option. I know it is in the discus' best interest to return it.

:hyper: This is my personal opinion but you can't just give up that discus can you :( you have to be attached ........ get him some friends eventually u wont regrett it

Yeah I like it too. I think i will go with otion 3 (option 2 without the discus. The gouramis and angels would make for a great mix I think, and the cories would go well in there too.

I most definitely am attached to it. But sometimes sacrifices have to be made for the greater good. I know the discus won't be completely happy with me since I'm not willing to get any more (too expensive and too sensitive), and I do not have the funds to provide it with a diet that is varied enough for it to thrive.

Well i agree with you then option 3 i think is your best choice you're right loving that little guy is what i think is making u give it up  :(

Ok option 3 it is. Final plan:

3 pearl gouramis
1 dwarf gourami
3 angelfish
4 platies
5 peppered cories

Sound good?

Crap... I'm in trouble. I just found out that the LFS doesn't take back fish. What do I do now?

Well, you could go with your 2nd option. Does that leave you with the one clown loach as well? Maybe you could just get one more clown loach, that way he'd have a buddy but you're not looking at 3 full size clowns down the road.

What exactly does this leave you with?

Since the LFS won't take back fish, I am forced to keep both the clown loach and the discus, unless I can find another LFS that will take the fish. I really, really don't want to get more discus or clown loaches, so any suggestions would be welcome at this point.
