Hi, currently I have a 180 litre tank for my 5 goldies but i have a 40l doing nothing and would like to know what small fish (or amphibians or snails) i could put in it.

Id really like something that would happily live in a heavily planted tank. I was thinking perhaps tetras and some Panda Cories, but any suggestions would be much appreciated

also what filter/heater (if any) would be suited to you're suggested fish ? Thanks :)

Hi :hi: to the forum,

In a 40L you could get 6 neon tetras, 4 corys and maybe a betta or small gourami.

You would need a 50W heater and a filter something similar to a fluval U1 :good:

Not big enough for panda Corys and I would personally not put neons, nor dwarf/pygmy Corys, in it either. For a 40 litre, I would consider..

* 1 Betta OR a pair of small, peaceful Bettas (simplex, for example) OR 6-10 ruby tetras OR 6-10 green rasboras
* shrimp or nerite snails, depending on the one you pick from above

Thanx :) .... could I have guppys with neon tetras and cories? I know that tetras live in shoals of 6 or more, but how about the cories and guppys, how many of each do i need for them to be comfatable?

or just guppys.. sorry i didnt see kittycats post befor my last one ?

Corys need 4+ but more is better
Guppys are not shoaling fish but in my experience they do like having other guppys, if you buy makes and female then they WILL breed so you need a plan on what to do with the babies. I had a group of 3 males and they were all fine.

Also i your user name is brill, i love that film :good:

personally i think 1 big shoal looks better then 2 smaller shoals of fish, and also have you considered shrimp there great fun to watch :)

I'll have alook at the shrimp :) .... i just found some green neon tetras and they look perfect - beautiful colour and only and inch long :D

id really like a little crab or frog but i have a feeling they wouldn't go in this tank to well haha

Green neons are pretty cool and would be perfect in your tank

I think your tank is to small for a frog (but maybe not, im not sure) but most crabs are brackish, you will have to get another tank then :p

15 of either:

Boraras micros, Boraras merah, Boraras briggittae, Boraras maculatus, Boraras urophthalmoides.

In a black water biotope with loads of wood.
