Hi folks, when I bought my 2 Bronze Cory's I automatically referred to my book and found that it looked nothing like the archive picture for it, then when I flicked through the book I discovered the Myers Corydoras and that is alot more similiar......what do you think?

The book says that Bronze have 2 sets of barb and Myers have three, mine has three. Also the Bronze does not have the black stripe and the Myers does like mine?

Very confusing, do I have a species different to what I bought? Am really excited to find out.....love em they are like two little puppies..favourites of my fish, very comical xxx

Your fish is C. aeneus (bronze Cory) and looks to be a form from Colombia. There are populations found all over tropical and sub-tropical south America, which have all been cloaked under the the name C. aeneus, some of these are considered as separate distinct species in their own right, but it will need a scientist to prove this. The name C. myersi is a synonym of C. rabauti and has a distinct colour pattern which is quite unique. The true C. aeneus was described from the island of Trinidad and got is name from the greenish-bronze colour of its body. Here are pictures showing two species.

Hi. I believe that Ian was trying to communicate to you, that you have a C. aeneus from Columbia. Your fish is not a C. zygatus, which is shown in the second pic. - Frank
