As the title says.

I carnt decide between the whole background being blue or the back being blue and the side being black

Completly blue (Blue + Blue)

Blue + Blue, but Black + Black would look a hell of alot better :D
 
i would go blue and black...it gives the tank a better sense of depth which will help when its filled...as light travels slower through water, so the perception of depth is lost
 
yea sorry this is for a marine tank.

i put it here as there is more traffic which will mean more results.

geoff. its a marine tank. the holes in the back will be the water returns from the sump below. If you look closely in the black background pictures you will see the sump in the cupboard. (more info in my marine journal link in sig.)
 
blue it is better infact most of our fish journals back grounds are painted blue for marines a lot of people prefer it

It would have to be black for me..................blue shows every mark :lol: and the corals stand out better with black :good:

As for your tank, I would go with the blue at the back and the black on the side - as Truck says, it adds depth

But if it were my tank I would go all black
