Where to get snails?

can u get snails at lfs is there a way to get them without buying them?can fish bring them in??

The most common way they come in is on live plants.

at my lfs snails are only 25 cents so i just spend a dollor and get 4 no big deal i can give you some snail if you pay shipping how many do you want

you can try to ask different lfs's if you can just have a few...I've done it before and gotten several pond snails and ramshorn snails... I even got a few malaysian trumpet snails for free too. I work for a pet store and I have given a few away to people who are wondering why their puffers aren't eating flake food... all you need are a few and you can start your own culture of them. It's worth a shot.

I didn't even want snails and I got them with my plants. I got one and somehow its multiplying. I have heard that some gouramis will eat them so I am hoping that all my tanks won't become infested!
