Inchworm had started a cool thread about "why" do you keep fish. I have always wondered how many of you out there suffered from MTS (multiple tank syndrome), and how you dealt with it. I mean, there is just so much available room in most of our homes.
In my case, when I was a kid, there was one point in time where I had a tank in our dining room, ten tanks in my bedroom, and betta bowls of varying sizes scattered throughout the house. I have always kept fish tanks of some kind through the years. The last house we lived in (2 years ago) had 2 tanks in the living room, one in the master bedroom and one in each of the other 2 bedrooms. I now have a fish room, used to be the garage/workshop of the house that we bought 2 years ago, wife says all the fish go out there. All the tanks in my sig are out here, except that I have bought a few more tanks( I love yard sales ), and am in the process of negotiating to purchase 10 more 15 gallon tanks.
So, whether you have a fishroom, or whether you keep them in the house with the rest of the family, please share how it is that you cram more fishtanks into your living space! :D

I have 3 on the desk in my room. (2 betta tanks and the 5 gallon). The 4 gallon is on one of those stools from Ikea- again, in my room. The 10 is in the office. I've cleared off one of the bookshelves in my room, which can hold another 3-4 betta tanks, and once I find out if my bookshelf can take the weight, I may be getting a 10-20 gallon for that. That'll put me up to 8 tanks in the bedroom

I have a 10g on my kitchen counter. A 1.5g betta on counter next to the sink. My 29g, 5.5g , (2) 1.5g in my living room. A 10g next to my bed.

I plan on adding a 28g bowfront next to bed and buying a cheap stand for the 10g, to put next to it. :)

After that, I have NOMORE room in my apartment, except maybe a 3g eclipse on my dresser.... :shifty:

We only have two tanks, the 400L is in our living room (looking very very sad as it is currently empty) and the 30g is in our garage as it will only be a quarantine tank just as soon as the substrate arrives for the big tank and we set it up.

I don't think I am as addicted to fish as you guys, also have no idea how we would maintain more than two tanks anyway...there are only so many hours in the day!

MTS got over me.... I swear i'll have a huuuge frakin fish room on my own when i grow up :) meanwhile i have 2 tanks in my room, a 29 starting cycling and a 10 with 4 gups and 2 corys, wich i think is finish cycling :) so im buyin some plaaaties next

edited... oh and i'll start cycling a betta tank this month :) wich will go straight up here in my pc desktop :)

I've got the 37 and a 5g in my bedroom. I've got another 5ghex in my office on my computer desk and I've got the 46 in the living room between two DVD racks and the 54 Corner is connecting the L between my couch and love seat. Sorta where you'd have an end table between the two sofas I've got a 54 gallon corner bow front.

Hmmmmm,
I have my 55 gallon and my 30 gallon in my living room. My 30 is right by my couch so I can socialize all the time. My other one is right by a big comfy chair so I can sit and waaaaaatch and waaatch!!!

I have a 20 gallon breeding Angels tank in my dining room and a 10 gallon underneath it....it's my goldfish's new home, but right now is a hospital tank!! :-( .

I have a 2.5 gallon tank on my piano that has my goldfish in it!!!

We are buying a new house next year so I am going to wait until after that whole "fiasco" is over with before buying my 180 gallon I want........loach/communtiy tank (DROOLS) where's the drooling smiley face, eh?? At that time my 55 will go in my bedroom (less traffic) and will be my 4 Silver Dollar's tank!!! :hyper: :hyper:

Oh, and I also have a 2 gallon hex tank that I thought would be perfect for a betta........anyone.......anyone????? :kana:

By then they'll be silver dishplates instead of silver dollars.

;)
Good to hear that it is normal to have tanks in any available space!!
Will have to copy all these threads and show them to my family as they think I have enough tanks. I only have 4 and they are all in the living-room.
I go to car boots, 2nd hand shops and jumble sales in the hope that I might find more tanks - so this is normal behaviour too - this is great!
If I wasn't a (mature) student and needed my spare room for college stuff and computers I think it would be full of fish tanks, maybe next year when I finish college!!!! I don't need to keep my sons bed in his room now, he has a house of his own :fun: :D

I keep my 1.5gal in my old Mac (made old Mac screenshot into an interesting background) which sits nicely next to my monitor. The other 10 gal is directly behind me on an old gigantic tube TV which I one day wish to convert into an aquarium one day.

35 gallon is in the dining room, the 25 gallon is in the lounge room, and the 175 gallon will be going in the lounge rooms next to the 25 gallon in a few months

i have a solution to the lack of space problem; you offer to "help" a friend set up her fishtank and basically treat it like it';s yours, going to visit them once a week.

Seriously though. i only have one tank, which is in the dining room on top of what was once a really nice cupboard thingy. tillall the varnish flaked off from repeated spillages of tank water... I was looking at my bed todya though and contemplating how i could move it round to make tank space. :D

Watchya implying there Sky?? :sly: :sly: Huh? Huh????!!!

I know, I know.......they would love a big tank someday, but I do hope they will be fine in the 55 :dunno: Let's just hope!!!!

;)

56 gal in my dining room, it is the one that exploded, replacement leaked, and second replacement is now cycling, 55 gal upstairs on a dresser in the loft, (had to get something I could trust for the fish from the 56 gal :D ) 10 gal by the stairs, daughter got it for me for mothers day for breeding, 10 gal in my youngest daughters room, 5 gal bowfront in my middle daughters room, 2.5 bow in the kitchen, 2 hex in the kitchen, and 1 gal in kitchen. I still have one countertop in kitchen with no tank(have to fix that :p ) and waiting for hubby to go on vacation again without me so i can get something big for the living room. also will buy a small, probably 2.5 for my grandaughter as soon as i convince my daughter that the no aquarium rule at her apartment is silly and meant to keep out the 50 plus that could casue a real problem it it leaked. I am also trying to convince hubby that if he gets tv in the bedroom why can't i have a tank. i WILL wear him down.

I have 4 tanks in the living room, which is ok as it's sort of an open plan 'L' shape and the long part of the 'L' allows for my tanks. I also have 2 in the bedroom.

I always find that it is the tank stands that curb my MTS. I am having a nightmare finding a stand for my cube.
