I need to know where you can buy small measuring spoons. can you buy them at a local giant or supermarket place? I need them for fertilizer dosing.

PS how big is a dash, pinch, and smidgen

DASH = 1/8 tsp
PINCH = 1/16 tsp
SMIDGEN = 1/32 TSP

I don't think I've ever seen them at any store, but you can find them on the internet. :)

This is a dash - LOL

I think they are all about the same... aren't they?

Seriously though... I decided to Google and found this online calculator on converting them.. at least it has dash and pinch. Nothing about a smidgen though. :D

Did you know that 1 drop is equal to 0.211 dashes and 0.105 pinches so a pinch is 1/2 of a dash. So 5 drops is equal to a dash+ and 10 drops is equal to a pinch+. A teaspoon (US) is 76 drops.

I doubt they make measuring spoons that small.

I noticed Chibi posted at the same time as me but her measurements don't add up the same as the calculator I found.

According to the calculator, a dash is around 1/16th of a teaspoon, then a pinch would be 1/32nd of a teaspoon and I'll have to take Chibi's word that a smidgen is 1/2 of a pinch so it would be 1/64th of a teaspoon.

I'll concede that the calculator could be wrong though.

I would find a non-needed container and mix up a large batch and then store that away until it is needed. When you are talking about such small measurements, errors are going to be much more common. That is to say, that a small error will be a much larger percentage when dealing with such small amounts -- consider an error of one pinch could be 100% error when you only need 1 pinch total, but an error of 1 pinch when you need a full table spoon is almost insignificant. That's why mixing up a large dose and storing it away is probably a better idea that remixing each time you want to fertalize.

Onlineconversions.com gives the same thing Chibi did except for smidgen. They don't list it. Here is where you can buy them though.
