I need the full-strength stuff to do fishless-cycling (about 28% ammonia). I've tried Boots the Chemist on Oxford Street London and they don't sell it. Where can I get it from?

hiya,

Try the local super market, and get their own brand, the cheap stuff. Make sure it doesn't contain any soapy, fragrent addatives though. :)

Try local hardware store. As long as it is pure (only ammonia and water) the strength of the solution doesn't matter; you test how many drops it takes to bring the readings up to 5 ppm.

Think I shall have to go to the HomeBase or similar. I asked at RobertDyas on TottenhamCourt road today and was presented with a very blank stare. I got a similar response in Boots the Chemist - it was as though I had asked for a bag of plutonium!

Somebody told me that ammonia is used in the preparation of crack. Maybe if you sent some respectable elderly female relative along?

Yeah then your nan can make the crack for you.
Only joking B&Q and homebase both sell it for a few pounds.
