When You See Cruelty

my australian shepherd was recently stolen (i believe), and so i felt compelled to give this dog a good home.

I got a bit curious when i read this, because i'm australian and have never heard of an australian shepherd.
I looked it up on the net, "While there are many theories as to the origin of the Australian Shepherd, the breed as we know it today developed exclusively in the United States." Which explains why! I thought at first maybe a different name for our blue and red cattle dogs, "blue merle (various shades of gray mixed with black patches)" which sounds like the blues, but on seeing pictures, very different, although possibly there's blue cattle dog in the breed.

it basically looks like a collie with the coloring of an australian cattle dog.

oohhh, i miss him so much... :-( :-( :-( he was my darling baby...

and that you never forget how much i loved you. :( :-(

When in want, throw a tantrum and you get what you want. Gee my brother knows that too well... and i third the motion to smack the owner :)

focus at me and the next thing you know CFC is here.

CFC would no doubt blame the dog and recommend poisoning.

Bloo, completely agree. Why do some blokes think they look macho and hard by joking about animal cruelty? Just makes them look like right tossers to me. :X

CFC would want to protect the dog as much as any of you, he does go overboard about protecting his own, but don't kid yourself that he would stand by and see anyone be cruel to any innocent animal that was being cruelly treated, though there was obviously a serious difference of opinion on the other thread, this is a totally different situation and it is not right to mix these situations. As far as I know He has never harmed an animal and on more that one occasion put himself out and in relative danger to try to save injured and distressed animals, so please keep your thoughts about that thread in that thread, it is only right.

back on this thread, isn't it horrible when you can't do something about a situation, I wish there were stronger animal protection laws. Years ago when I was still at school, I saw a man infront of me kicking a yorkshire terrier, I started running forward, but before I got there a big bloke stopped his motorbike and went over punched the man, picked up the dog and just slipped it into his jacket and rode off, I guess he did what we all would like to do, he just had the size and ability to do it, it was over so quickly the man just stood there, and then had to bear the brunt of a lot of school girls laughing at him and telling him he deserved it. Ahh a big hairy hero on a motorbike.

What a great story, there might be some hope left for humanity yet!

I've never personally seen animal cruelty taking place, aside from underfed horses which are sadly pretty common in my area -- I make it a point to report that sort of thing. The horses will usually improve right after being reported, but then they just go back to being skinny in a few months and the cycle starts over :X. I'm always glad to see Spring roll around so the poor things will have grass for a while.

Neglect is one thing, but nobody had better physically harm any animal in my presence. I may be 5'3" and weigh less than 100lbs, but by God I would go bat#### insane. My paranoid father had a police officer friend of his buy me some police-strength mace as I'm moving away soon, and somebody would have that sprayed in their eyes and down their pants. With any luck it would be an alternate method of chemical castration

haha i'm only 5'4" and teeny tiny. but i'm a redhead, and a scorpio, and i can be vicious when i want to.
i stood up to some drugged up homeless guy when he stole my mates wallet RIGHT from under my nose, we got him arrested and taken to court. he got 3 months in jail (even though you know he would've only done 2 weeks, but eh! <3 british law) in hinesight i'm now more cautious, thankfully it was a busy area, but he could have EASILY pulled a knife on me.

i wish we could get Mace here :(

I think its sick that anyone would smack they're dog just because it needed the bathroom! I bet he didnt even bother to clear it up! I dont know whats going on lately but there seems to be alot more animal abuse going on

Our first dog wilf was a stray he was a Jack Russell! Landed on our doorstep Easter Sunday and ran straight in and layed in front of our fire! We turfed him out and later that day we went out for a walk down by the local river only to see some young boys kicking him into the river! Unfortunately he thought they were playing and kept getting out and was wagging his tail! Luckily as soon as he saw us he came trotting over and we took him home and he stayed the night then my parents took him to the local police station! Me and my sister were gutted and spent a whole week playing up and calling our parents a murderer then on the day he was to be put down my mum went and got him! He was the best dog anyone could ever ask for and we had him for nearly sixteen years! I miss him dearly and will never forget him! Although now I have Ty who is also kind of a rescue he was passed from pillar to post by the time he was 9 weeks old he'd lived in at least 4/5 different homes, had fleas, worms the lot and wasnt very affectionate, now he's so affectionate and is just potty!
