This hobby can be exspensive! Late last year when doing a routine filter clean my ehiem canister cracked. After that and in the same month my CO2 3.15kg cylinder ran out of CO2 and the juwel light fitting broke, killing both bulbs in the process. Outside of that, my vehicle was broken into and my insurance company which will remain nameless took their time in paying out and so I had to finance repairs myself. Add to that the fact that XMas was fast approaching and I have more family than i can count (4 uncles 3 aunts on my mothers side, simmilar ratio on my dads side of the family) more cousins, nieces, and nephews than I need (I love them all to bits lol) so gifts were more of a priority. Because after all it is (or at least was) xmas.

In short this hobby had to take a back seat. And with no light or CO2 for close to 4 months, my main aquarium has gone to pot. Very few plants have survived as most were medium to high light plants to begin with...

Has anything simmilar ever happened to you? Where life conspires to keep you away from the hobby or had a period where you simply can't put the effort into the hobby despite wanting to. I haven't lost faith. I'm still inspired by gorgeous tanks and gorgeous fish but this is by far the longest break I've ever had in the hobby.

Despite the fact that before anything I have to start a mini cycle as my filter bac numbers need a boost before I can try to get back into the swing or flow of things.

I've read many disaster stories. I've been fortunate that I've never had equipment issues.
I'm sorry to hear you had so much trouble.
Hang in there!
