Can I start putting my plants into my tank when I get it?
They are going from my small tank into new one. Will this slow cycling down? Or kill the plants?

Yeah, you can just get them in there right away. Live pants shouldn't die or slow down the process...they should help!

it'll be fine, you'll probably see some melting of the plants, but they should come back. its just them adjusting to the water.

However fishless cycling should be done in the dark. Ammonia + light = bad algae. Plants need light. Personally I would wait until after the cycle.

Personally, I think the pros out-weigh the cons. I have my plants exposed to light a lot, never direct sunlight, and I couldn't grow algae if I tried. The easy, fast growing plants seem to hoover up whatever nutrients are around and stunt any algae growth...only in my short experience, though...

Oh I totally agree. But this doesnt apply to a tank in mid cycle. This only works in a mature tank with 0 ammonia present

In that case, I defer to your greater experience! Hehe!

Update!

I've changed my mind I've gone for transferring some of my filter media over with 3 guppies and all the substrate (sand). And the plants are in.

Not sure what to expect now. As in plants or fish health. And cycle? Should I expect toxic spikes? Ammonia + nitrite ?

There's 3 guppies in this 190l (50gallon) my existing tank is next to new one still running with the rest of the fish so if any thing drastic happens I can get them back into the small tank
