When Can I Put My Other Fish In?

agreed with everyone, apart from the lfs!! the tank is definately not cycled and is not ready for more fish. Its impossible to give a timeframe as each tank and filter set up etc is different. Also you will be fairly limited to the type of fish as tiger barbs usually are fin nippers so and harrass alot of smaller fish.

My tip is get a liquid test kit, API Master kit is your best bet as it covers everything you need, leave the fish as they are, get all your water right and then add some more, it isnt really fair on the fish to rush it, because they will most likely die!

Feel free to ask any more questions though, you will always get the right answers here, we are not trying to sell you anything!!

hahaha. Okay, thanks for all the advice. What should I do about the Tiger Barbs? I have a Golden Wonder Killifish, Dwarf Neon Rainbow, Featherfin Rainbow, Honey Red Gourami, and 2 Corycats that I want to bring over to the 20 Gallon. Will this even be possible since Tiger Barbs are such aggressive, fin nippers.

If I add more Tiger Barbs would they not fin nip as much and just play amongst themselves? I have 5 right now.

they are not necessarily aggressive, i have kept them and they were fine, its just that the majority are!

i cant see them causing issues with any of those, maybe the dwarf rainbow, they mainly cant be kept with long finned fish, like guppies, bettas along those lines.

You have the benefit of having 2 tanks (when this one has cycled) so if they cause a problem you can either remove the fish that they are harassing to the other tank or just take the barbs back.

I personally love barbs, i have a school of 20 clown barbs in my 65g tank, lovely fish!

sorry missed your last question

The issue is your running out of room. Tiger barbs will need about 3g each to be kept comfortable, remember fish grow and you have to plan for their future size, at the moment you could get 3 or 4 more barbs but in 6-12 months you will need to rehouse them and thats not ideal

id keep the barbs as they are and maybe add 1 or 2 lager fish with them

they are the small Tiger Barbs. They also sell Medium and Large ones. I bought the small ones with this in mind.

im pretty sure you will find that the medium to large ones are older and have grown, i dont believe there are different sizes due to breeds
