What’s wrong?!

It says 'mold free' on the tube which in the UK means it has an additive to kill mould. And I was told to leave silicone to cure for 48 hours not 24.
It was my mistake. On the tube it said water ready in 30 min but I waited a day. The silicone type was still wrong

I am now restarting. lost only two fish which isn’t the worst. I’m plasti dipping all the wood so therefore the wood won’t be a problem at all. I am then drilling holes into the bottom of the wood and aquarium sealant siliconing aquarium suction cups into the hole and leaving it all to cure. That was there are no possible issues because everything is certified aquarium safe

Again I am so sorry for what has happened to you. Sounds like you are doing your best this time around so it should all work great, can't wait to see your new tank.

Thank you! And yea that’s what happens when you don’t do your own research and listen to randoms on the internet. It’s my fault for not researching better and it’ll hopefully be done in 2 days

If I hadn’t read someone else asking about it on here, I would have made the same mistake last year. We all have made mistakes. :)

I am very sorry to hear about your losses... little mistakes like that can hurt. :(

I'm glad you're going to stick with it. :good:

Luckily I caught it before all of them died and that’s what matters and that I’m fixing it

It’s hard but it will be okay, now I know. And yes I have! I love them too much to quit

Is there anything to do to help silicone poisoning besides lots of water changes?

This a long shot but you can try a methylene blue dip. It helps with ammonia and nitrite poisoning.

Use as a Dip
You can also use Methylene Blue as a dip for treating fish with fungal infections, those affected by external protozoan parasites, or those suffering from cyanide poisoning.

  1. Prepare a nonmetallic container of sufficient size to contain the fish to be treated by adding water similar to the original aquarium.
  2. Add 5 teaspoons (24.65 ml) per 3 gallons of water. This produces a concentration of 50 ppm. It is not recommended that the concentration is increased beyond 50 ppm.
  3. Place fishes to be treated in this solution for no longer than 10 seconds.
  4. Return fish to the original aquarium.

Would seachem prime work? It gets rid of ammonia and nitrites as well

Hang in there, take it one little bit at a time.
I know how terrible and helpless it must make you feel right now.

What are the fish in right now?
What items are put in with them from the affected tank?

They’re back in the old one. Drained whole tank rinsed all gravel for hours, wiped down inside of tank, boiled all plastics and nonlive decoration, brand new filter media, cleaned out plastic part of filter (whole thing), cleaned the heater, plasti dipped all the wood previously in the tank, and soaked plants in clean water with water changes twice. So old stuff is in there but extremely cleaned and all new filter media. It’s just hard idk how to fix this and I feel like such a terrible pet owner
