I think it was the silicone. Upon further research that brand of silicone two is unsafe and I have lost a fish. Completely emergency removed all fish into quarantine tanks and now have to restartOkay the silicone brand is safe, so thats not a worry. Can rule that one out.
Have to ask, given my paranoia due to recent events here, but no chance soaps or hand sanitizer got into the tank at all off your hands?

I got specific aquarium sealant this time so that way there is no worries at allIt has to specifically say it is Aquarium safe. I had a feeling that was our culprit and why I asked what kind you used. So sorry this happened. I believe the brand I used was Dap? It specifically sited aquarium safe.
Yeah GE 1 is safe 2 is notGE silicone I is the one to use. (not GE silicone 2)
