What’s wrong?!

Water safe doesn't mean fish safe.

Whats the brand and whats the ingredients?
This brand and it’s 100% silicone

Okay the silicone brand is safe, so thats not a worry. Can rule that one out.

Have to ask, given my paranoia due to recent events here, but no chance soaps or hand sanitizer got into the tank at all off your hands?

I think it was the silicone. Upon further research that brand of silicone two is unsafe and I have lost a fish. Completely emergency removed all fish into quarantine tanks and now have to restart

Darn what a bummer. The silicone may be safe, did you give it a couple of days to cure?
Here is a video using a similar silicone saying it is safe...

It has to specifically say it is Aquarium safe. I had a feeling that was our culprit and why I asked what kind you used. So sorry this happened. I believe the brand I used was Dap? It specifically sited aquarium safe.

I gave it 24 hours and yeah everything that I’m reading says two is bad

I got specific aquarium sealant this time so that way there is no worries at all

Dang, the sites I found answers on said it was safe, the 2. But yeah best safe than sorry then.

It says 'mold free' on the tube which in the UK means it has an additive to kill mould. And I was told to leave silicone to cure for 48 hours not 24.
