Reluctantly, I've named him Simon. He still isn't eating, which is really worrying me. No signs of any disease, he swims around...is active but has refused the following: live brine shrimp, frozen brimp shrimp, betta pellets (crushed and whole), dried bloodworms, frozen bloodworms, and prime rib (just kidding on the last one...I'm sure he wouldn't eat that either, though lol)

Anyone have any suggestions for me? Please? I'm begging  ...really...I'm on my knees in front of the computer...

It is possible simon does eat maybe you just dont see him eat... just make sure you dont over feed him. ;)

hmmmm
my only suggestion is....stop naming them !!!!
j/k (kinda) I've always heard if you name a fish.... :X and IME it's true, I lost a compressiceps that we called Blinky because she had only one eye and a frontosa we called zebra-y due to a terrible chloramine accident (I say "we" but it was really "she" my daughter who named them) we also lost my favorite betta who was named Candy Cane Boy a few months ago :X :X :X

I only have two fish with names now....Pink & Floyd, I don't even know WHY we named them and not the other fish but... :X It's been about 6 months with them now but still :X

all my fish are called bernard (glowlights, zebra danios, corys), except for nameless and no-name the dwarf gouramis, and the snails are called alfred :D

I had a pet frog I named Jones...had to leave him behind when I moved a couple of years ago, last update I got he was doing well (left him with coworkers in their office with food, instructions, and a blanket)

Hopefully he is just getting used to his new digs...at least that's what I hope with mine. I too brought him home and he has a nice 2 gal. to himself but won't eat. I've tried the pellets and freeze dried blood worms...and they float on top until they eventually drop...

I guess when he's hungry enough he will eat.

I know he's not eating because I pull the food after 10-15 minutes, and he hasn't touched it. I bought betta flakes today, and he wouldn't eat those either.

How long has anyone gone with a betta that wouldn't eat because they were getting settled in?

And guess what he has the nerve to do? He's started a bubble nest!! :S

I've had him four days now...he's driving me crazy! lol

hmmmm

I've never had a betta not eat (touch wood). I feed them as soon as I get them home, before I even take them out of their cups :/

Have you tried brine shrimp or frozen bloodworms?

Yep, tried both...he completely snubbed both of them. He doesn't even try to eat any of the food. I'll put it right in front of his face, and he completely ignores it.

I've never had a betta act completely normal, but not eat...I think the fish hates me.

This will not be comforting to you...

but, I had a female betta who didn't touch food for a week. She died. It's a good thing though that your male is making bubble nests...so, I suppose he's fine. I really don't know.

I guess I'll just keep trying to feed him, and if he doesn't eat, there's not much I can do about it. He ALMOST showed interest in pellets this morning, but didn't actually eat. Maybe he's just stressed out since I got him right when they got the bettas in the store. The lady poured him in the cup, and I slapped a lid on his cup and took him home.

I had a black and blue betta that wouldn't eat when I got him (who eventually died after three days), but he wasn't active like Simon and certainly wasn't making bubble nests.

I think he's holding out for steak.... :grr:

Listen, if he won't eat live brine shrimp or frozen bloodworms--tasty tidbits. or so I understand, give the steak a try. I've fed steak to my fish and frogs and they loved it. ;)

Just be sure it's very very lean and cut into pieces that he can eat in one bite. Hey, if he won't eat, it's worth a try.

Another idea (if you are getting desperate) is tiny bits of boiled shrimp.

I have a betta that wouldn't eat. He had lived in a tank with feeder goldfish, and I doubt he got very much food. So what i finally had to do with him is put in one pellet and touch the water to catch his interest. Just dip my fingertip in around the food, pushing it around in the middle of the tank, making sure it's where he can see it. Eventually his interest was perked and I pulled my finger away and he jumped on it. He spit it back out, but he was aware that it was food and a few minutes later when I did it again, he ate it.

Now he's really happy and doing well. Bubble nested and everything!

Hello Dixaisy930 :)

I was hoping to see some good news about Simon this morning. How's he doing? Has he eaten anything yet?
