I was watching a movie the other day and started thinking about how I missed some of the places I’ve been. What are some of the coolest places you’ve been? Have you ever been anywhere that you just long to go back to? What did you bring home to remember it by? Edited to add: What did you love about that place?

I have been very blessed to have had a few epic traveling opportunities. When I was about 9, my grandparents paid for allllllll my family (parents, sisters, brother, aunts, uncles, and cousins) to go on a cruise. I think the coolest place I went was Belize. The roads were reddish dirt and the buildings were faded shades of yellow and peach. And the ocean, ah. The ocean was crystal clear and calm as could be. We took a boat out to a part of the coral reef, which is the second largest in the world. The boat beside us saw a sea turtle, and there were nurse sharks and sting rays. I don’t remember that part too well, except that it got super grey and cold. Eventually the sun came back and we went and ate our lunch on a little island. The boat tour guides had brought these little bags of water, which was fun. You had you tear the corner with your teeth and drink it all at once. A dolphin swam alongside the boat for a little bit, and played in the wake. After that we went out to a clear, open area and swam. There were dozens of nurse sharks and sting rays. And they boat guides just threw us in with a pair of goggles, not even a life jacket! I don’t have any pictures since it was so long ago. I bought some wooden bead bracelets, and they gave me some of my change as Belize 1 cent coins. Its been nearly 8 years. I would love to go back someday.

Probably Arizona or Colorado. I’ve lived in a lot of states but also visited a lot. The Grand Canyon was super cool, but the mountains in Colorado are incredibly beautiful.

I was scheduled to tour Europe for 2 weeks, but that got canceled due to Covid.

My bed, after a tiring day 😂.

But tbh, I would have to say California. It was for a funeral but I finally got to see the area where I was born... Its the most beautiful place I've seen

When at school (many many years ago) I, along with 23 other students, spent three months on a cultural exchange in what was the USSR. One month in Kiev (now Ukraine), one month in Leningrad (now St Petersburg) and one month in Murmansk. That was an incredible experience and I have to admit the visit wiped all of my preconceived ideas away about the Soviet Union.

In more recent times, visits to India, Borneo and Vietnam are probably my favourites. I have been very fortunate in that before the health declined I was able to visit places that I never thought I would, all thanks to cruise ships. Sailing the Suez Canal is breathtaking, walking around Port Stanley on the Falkland Islands was both poignant and a once in a lifetime trip (poignant in that I could honour my friends who were lost in 1982 during the Falklands War.

Within Canada probably Meres Island, but Drumheller as a kid I remember the hoodoos and fossil parks were really cool. Meres Island has bioluminescent plankton in the waters, so the waves glow blue as they roll in. Such an incredible phenomenon to witness.

Outside of Canada would be Greece. I've been to Athens and Santorini. Obviously the Acropolis and other temples are amazing, the Akrotiri city on Santorini was also a highlight alongside the unique architecture of the island. I wish I had been older to properly appreciate the culture though.

A little story about Mt Sinai when I walked up Mt Sinai there was a group of us everyone else got distracted by the temptations on the way, when I arrived on the top, I was the only person there and as I left another person arrived, it was by far the most spiritual experience I have ever had.
