What's The Biggest Freshwater Aquarium Fish You've Ever Seen?

I saw a 10 foot white sturgeon at a koi farm

i saw a ARAPAIMA in zoomarine in portugal. BIGGEST freshwater fish in the world :p

Different Species reach different sizes. Some will stay small but many grow huge! Check out planet Catfish for loads of pics to help you ID yours. Or ask in the plec section of the catfish area on this forum.
 
ok, its now FW but at one on my LFS i saw a 4 foot shark and 2 or 3 smaller ones with other fish and a reef system. the store has hundreds of tanks, im serious! so much stuff you'd get lost

A mature Phractocephalus hemioliopterus (red tailed cat) Must have been in or around 3'.

There was a big case at the turn of the last century (nineteenth into twentieth i think) where a great white or some other large shark swam up a river and killed a couple of people.

That makes it a freshwater sighting.

I dare someone to tell me I'm talking cr*p so I have an incentive to track down the story!
