when i can empty my 6.5x2x2 i think i might want to go down the route of a singular or pair, maybe even a trio of fish.... i have several com tanks and think a pet fish as in an interactive fish with a proper name would be good fun and a bit different...
i was and still am thinking of rehoming a red tailed catfish until he got too big for the tank and have thought about 2 or maybe 3 oscars (i know what shelaghs choice would be  ). it doesnt have to be a pretty tank just suitable for what goes in there as its currently in the garage.

any suggestions welcome

a big jag ciclid

or a flowerhorn

many options really

but i think an aro couple of oscars (pair) and a big catfish :good:

Possibly a mbu or fahaka puffer?

All of the larger new world cichlids have personalities and would be a fine 'wet pet'. If that tank was mine I would look into getting a pair of red terrors (festae), their colours are amazing.

I still stick by what ive said i would go for a few lima shovelnoses and then a pair of big cichlids like jags, oscars or midas.

ooh i didnt think of a flowerhorn.... do these need to be kept as a single specimin/species?

Pair of Uaru's?

If it's big enough, 75 gallons is minimum, not sure how much yours holds.

im pretty sure it depends on the fish but i think if you raise them with other fish then they should be fine but if there on there own from young wants mature no tank mates

but your best bet is to talk to hamfist :good:

would 2 oscars, a bgk and a large plec work? with sand substrate and lots of bogwood....

Yeah that should be fine. The only problem i could see is the BGK getting bullied a little but aslong as theres alot of hiding spots there shouldnt be a problem. You could go for a group of geophagus aswell or maybe a Bichir.

im thinking of just a few larger fish rather than a comunity, i would be happy with 4 or maybe 5 large fish. if i start getting too many then i would rather set up a planted tank and fill it with lots of colour and movement, i just see this as a chance to keep some large and maybe oddball fish instead of the typical com fish.....

Fair enough. What about a group of red bellied piranha.

yeah had thought about that but from peoples experience they seem to get bored with them quite easily. though you never know until you try so still a chance i guess......

I cant really think of much else a bit different.what about a Clarias catfish or a group of Silver needlefish
