Whats the best Hang on Back (HOB) Filter

Looking at the size and a lot of moving parts is it prone to make a lot of noise ?
I've seen people say on line they start making more noise as they get older, apparently they're OK through 15 years according to robmcd, I've seen some people say the impeller needs replaced sometimes.

@Dajuyu the impeller should be replaced every 5-10 years, but that is to be expected with any filter that uses an impeller.

I've always used AquaClears, never had any problems with them. You can do pretty much anything you want with the media basket set up. The lid vibrates at times, just have to move it back into place. Has a nice waterfall sound that my wife didn't like, so I switched to a canister setup.

5 - 10 years sounds fair enough but whats not good to hear is when after usage of 2 years there is already a need to replace them .

I like the water fall sound but the problem with me is that I always have my water level in my tank at the most maximum .. so the sound of water dropping from the HOB is not that loud if any ...
