Fish Gatherer
Ok ya he thought about gouramis and I don't think he wants any and the puffers he doesn't want since they may not work that great.
Um... From everything I've heard/seen a pair of JD can be kept in a 55 just fine. And in all honesty, a 40 isn't that small, Its still gives plenty of room so I think 55g is the recommended, for those who want big huge spacious tanks for their fish, but a 40 would suffice. IMO.If he wants big fish he'll need a big tank. There's no way a JD could or should be put in a 30g. 55g absolute minimum. He could have a pair of convicts (although pair = multiple virtually unsellable babies) or angels, as long as the tank was 18" deep. Erm...a pair of keyholes or maybe even rainbow cichlids at a push?
Seriously though, should we be working out what the biggest fish you could put in a small tank was? Wouldn't it be better to say - what will fit in comfortably and happily, rather than what's the biggest I could get in there?
They might all be too large.giant piranah is a cool fish and a good conversation piece...or a sterlet sturgeon definatly a cool fish. or if you wanted to do something cool thats not fresh water get a salt tank and a moray eal that could be the coolest thing you could put in there and then stick it in your living room if your geting a big fish you have to go with salt water it just looks better and there are more options...
