What Would You Suggest For Starting A Marine Tank?

You don't need a sump but they definately help. As with anything else there are pros and cons. It probably would be expensive to buy a system with a sump but if you or somebody you know is fairly handy you could probably make one yourself with a lot of research and planning.

as no 1 replied i'l ask another question before i can buy the tank and start i need to know everything about hardware like what i need how much its gonna cost so like what heater filter light etc..... do i need and cost for a 70 us gal tank as i am not allowed t start until i add the sum up ad see how much money its going to cost also i live in uk so the prices could vary from usa

You can use a sump to houes akll the equipment and save tank space. tobuy there going to set you back a small fourtune. Making your own would be my best advise.

im no good at making anything how much would they cost and were would you buy 1 from

Well as your just down the road in berk my reef club could help you out? You could buy a take from Pets@Home fro £20-£30 and the acrylic for the baffles from a plastics factory for about £10. I could ask aroud for you and I'm sure someone over that way could help out?

There are members in Reading, Tadley, Basingstoke, winnersh and winchester.

wohoo i bought a 75 us gallon tank,5 us gallon sump,heaters..... all the hardware needed it was worth £2500 and i bought it for £340 all i need to do now is to buy corals live rock clean up crew and fish but il do that overtime obvlioulsy . look in the last post to view the item i bought and the list of equipiment with it so now il be posting questings about setting it up and about live rock etc..

also do u think the sump size is fine with that tank?

i am collecting tank sunday but in the meantime i will ask a few questions

how much live rock do u have a 75 gallon?(like how do u work that out) also what live rock shall i get if there are diffrent types or is there just 1?

what live sand shall i use and how much shall i get( dimensions are on the last link)

also what inverts would u advise? - i will tell u the fish im getting later on in the week as i havent made my mind up

also what corals shall i get i have a few i like but il post them on l8r because i cant be bothered lol

umm if u could reply that would be appreciated lol :good:

cheers

LR - 1lb per gallon (75lbs for you)
LS - dont waste your money, its a marketing gimmick. Get plain old aragonite sand instead. Prolly a 40lb bag. You might need more, but thats easy enough to add later
Inverts - Somewhat fish dependent, but common ones include Cerith, Nassarius, Trochus, and Turbo snails (i'm not a fan of astrea) along with redleg hermits (not a fan of blues), various cleaner shrimp, emerald crabs, or brittle stars are also decent options. You'll want close to 1 invert per gallon for cleanup crew with larger inverts like shrimp, and brittle stars counting for 3-5 inverts. Variety is the spice of life here :)
Corals - totally light and flow dependent. If the tank comes with that 4xT5 fixture linked in the previous ebay auction, you could keep any softie and just about any LPS coral. I'd stay away from most SPS and clams and certainly anemones. While they CAN be kept under a 4xT5 lighting setup, they're still harder corals to look after and not beginner-friendly

ok
do u think the sump is suitable for the tank?
and also whats an anemone?

2 percula clowns
2 lyretail anthias
