What would I need for a nano?

and i would be able to keep like...2 oscerious clownfish (the ones that look like nemo) in thier right?

Nanocube are very popular, albeit overpriced IMO. You will need to gut the hood out and add more lighting i believe. You could keep 2 clowns in there, sure

If you're gonna get a nano-cube, find a nano-cube deluxe. It's 48w and fan cooled, so they went ahead and put more power and some cooling in the hood, which is what people were gutting the hood to do anyway. I think they run about $120-140 or so.

All depends on what corals you plan to keep. That comes out to 2 wpg, and although this isn't the perfect way to measure how much lighting you need, comparitively my 10 gal has 96watts over it for 9.6 wpg. Now this is less due to displacement of water by rocks and coral but you get the picture. IMO you definately need more light over that tank for even softies to thrive.

Also take into consideration you have to gut the overflow and add PHs to the tank for more movement.

OMG I can't afford that! 290 some dollars! Yiks!

Maybe Ill stick to the 12G nanocube and just put in a new light.

Or you could go with a 10 or 20 gal AGA and spend the extra money on some REALLY nice lights. The 96w powerquad goes for around $100 at hellolights.com and i highly recommend it. The saved money could also go toward your LR or some nice starter corals.

IMO the nano cubes are a waste of money. I would rather spend the money on better equipment for a 10 gal. (which is what i did) :kana:

But the way you want to do it is like 400 dollars in equipment and im only 17 with a dishwashing job. I can't go buck wild with all these equipment things

what you want to do is get the new, 24 gallon nano cube DX. now that thing is cool. my dad just got one. they just came out. and it was about $270. but everything comes with it. lights, fan, filter. EVERYTHING! thats the way to go.

The most expensive part of the nano is the LR. For a 12g nano, you're looking at about 18lbs of LR. At an average price of $7.99/lb, that's almost $145 in ROCK alone. Plus, the fish are relatively expensive, as are the corals.

is it possable to start a tank out like normal , cycle the water then put in the sand then put in the rock in 5 pound intervals?
