What Would Be Eating My Eggs?

Hi Inchworm,
These are indeed Sterbai Cory from Fishy Jake.
If you have different types of Cory in the same tank is this still a community tank?

Thanks,
Chris

not a com tank as such but still not a single species tank. i find that corys will spawn better when kept in a single species tank, also the more mouths in the tank give better chance of the eggs getting eaten

Hi ChrisCook :)

Yes, I would call it a cory community. They are nice groups of fish to have. Until recently, when I started using the space above the corys to grow out swordtails, I've enjoyed just keeping corys together.

I have four wild caught C. sterbai that I've had for at least 2 years. There's no doubt as to their maturity and genders. Still, I haven't had luck with them. They are in my bathroom tanks at the moment, but I've been thinking of bringing them into the main room near the windows, in another month or so. By then the temperature should be dropping naturally at nights and staying somewhat cooler during the days too. This is the period before the heat goes on for the winter and I usually have luck getting my corys to spontaneously spawn.

If they are going to spawn at this time, good tank cleanings (including filter rinsing and substrate vacuumings) and substantial water changes often help. Gently try to imitate nature.
