What Works Well With Angel Fish?

So I have a 125 litre (33 gallons) tank and 2 fish: Angel fish and doctor fish.

I recently lost my other fish due to some infection, not really sure what it was but my fire eel had white on its tail and the fish shop gave us some medicine but it pretty much killed everything.

Even before that we had problems finding other fish that work with our angel fish. We tried putting it with rummy-nose tetra's as I have seen them recommended on other posts. Angelfish tried to eat them so we had to move angelfish back to out 90 litre tank. Also, angelfish is a girl I don't know if that affects anything.

Does anyone have any advice on what fish I can get? I would like a happy tank where everyone gets along with each other! :p

Fish I like the look of are rams, clown loach and fighting fish. I would like to have a type of fish that school and stick together like the tetras do but ones that don't get eaten. Another thing I would like is some type of plec or catfish that doesn't grow too big.

My main concerns are getting fish that don't get along or getting fish that need a bigger tank.

Any advice would be great! :good:

What I would do is this
2 keyhole cichlids
6 lemon tetra
1 angelfish
6 sterbi cory
2 bn

Fine suggestion above there. Corydoras Sterbai are fantastic fish but I would stick to on bb plec and maybe swap the lemons out for black phantoms (for aesthetic reasons more than anything).

Thanks for the suggestions :D

Yeah they all seem pretty cool, I agree with dannybgoode on the black phantoms. My only issue is that they look the same sort of size as the rummy-nose and it didn't take long for my angel fish to take an interest in them :(

I have in the past kept phantoms with an angel but perhaps others on here with more experience of compatibility will advise further.

Cheers

They'll be fine with Angels. They're wide-bodied and fast moving. You can experience problems mixing big angels with medium to small sized Rummynoses because of their torpedo-like shape. I've had experience with and would personally advise the keeping of Angelfish with the Hyphessobrycon group. Lemon Tetra, Roberts Tetra, Red Phantoms all being particular favourites of mine. Diamond Tetra are also good companions for Angels and rather attractive once full-grown. All of the ones I've mentioned are great when kept in sufficient numbers because they won't be preyed upon, and won't nip the Angels, either. My Roberts and Red Phantoms used to school very tightly, as well.

+1 for Diamond Tetras. I have 6 and they're great. I'm planning to get more.

The fish I keep with my angels are Cardinal Tetra's, Rosy Barbs, Panda Cory's, and my big Siamese Algea Eater who thinks he is a tetra sometimes, and a BN Pleco. All is quiet in my community tank. My tank is a 55g. So Just keep in mind that your angel will get very big for that size of tank. So don't overstock too much..

Again thanks for the advise.

So do you think i would be able to do this:
2 Rams
6 tetras (Hyphessobrycon group)
1 angelfish
6 sterbi cory
1 bn
1 doctor fish

Although i may be asked by the bf to change the amount of tetras and corys as he likes odd numbers :S

The Moenkhausia group would work well too if there is nothing you like in the Hyphessobrycon group.
