What was your first fish?

I bought my first tank second hand containing which, after some research, turned out to be tinfoil barbs.

The previous owners had been sold these fish under the pretext that they were "silver darlings".

They wern't prticularly suitable for the tank at 5 specimens each 8 inches in a 3 foot tank.

To be truthful Im not 100% sure what my first fish was. I have an idea that it was a pair of goldfish.

1st fish to research was a Siamese Fighting Fish a few yrs back now.

I have a couple of goldfish now still but they wernt the ones I started off with :(

This is an old post.. I was wondering why I had never seen them names before, and why the emotes weren't working

Anyway, my first fish were 2 goldfish of some kind. I was 3 at the time and apparantly fed them a whole cheese sandwich. they floated upside down for a few days and survived that

First fish I researched.. That would be cherry barbs and harlequin rasboras. When i got my first tropical tank, i was instructed by LFS to put them in the day after. I had 2 cherry barbs and 4 harlequin rasboras, 5 died after 4 days, leaving only 1 female cherry barb, so i thought i better find what was going wrong, and found this forum :p

I don't have any goldfish now, and I don't think i would have coldwater fish again as i prefer tropicals

My first was a goldfish I won at a school fair. It spent 4 years in a tiny bowl, having it's water changed once a week with water straight form the tamp and lived out the rest of its 18 year life in the pond outside.

My first tropical fish was either a platy or a black widow tetra (i forget)

The one I did the most research on was my archer fish.

my first fish was a sarasa comet white with a red cap and massive tail i was about 5 and it went in my grandads 15ft square pond i dont know if its still there though not been in a few years .

I had a poor little goldfish in a bowl as a kid. But then it was a few danios to start and then rummynose tetras and cherry barbs.

my first fish were 6 baby black skirt tetras to cycle( :( ) my 33 gallon

they lived there for a year and grew nice and big then i eventually upgraded to a 65 gallon where they lived for another year before Columinaris struck and killed ALL my stock :(

I won my first fish at church when I was like, 5. It was 2 Goldfish. I named one " Balloon Man". My brother named the other one " Oven"

The first fish I got for myself was a blue male betta. I was 15 he lived in an unheated no filter 1 gal tank. He lived to be 6 years old. Before that we has goldfish in an outdoor water garden. I got a 5 gal tank and had mollies that bred like crazy.

My first ever fish was also a fairground prize from the Hook a Duck stall, are we showing our ages here guys? lol She was kept in a big glass bowl, we had to put another bowl next to her as she used to jump out over night, I was about 7 & one day we found her on the floor, cant say I blame her that water must have been minging!

As a fishkeeper my first fish was a guppy, the first fish I researched were livebearers, I still have all of them but one & some of the next generation too.

when i set my tank up i was that eager to get fish in it and I went and bought 2 neons which if i remember didn;t fair too well. I thought they would be hardy fish!! now if i use a couple of fish to start with its always zebra danios

first ones i remember were some neon tetras when i was a kid.
