I want to get some snails 1 or 2 for my new tank as it has a sand substrate and i hear snails are good for digging it up to stop air pockets of gas.Could anybody recommend a few types of snails that would be good.Is there a type that will not eat all my plants and stay to ground and bog wood ?
Thanks for any help much apprioacted.

If you want a snail to burrow in the sand, then a malaysian trumpet snail is best. Right off the bat I cant think of any other snail that burrows in the sand. Also be careful not to overfeed, because if you overfeed then the snails will increase in numbers by a lot!

sulewesi (spelling) elephant/rabbit snails also dig into the substrate - look great to

Thanks for the info :) will have a look and see if i can get some of them :)

Loads of snails burrow and sift the substrate any snail with a long conical shell is a good bet as a digger. MTS, DTS, GTS, assassins and rabbits come to mind atm for common names
