What type of fish to breed?

I would go bare bottom with maybe a couple potted plants for decor/hiding, yet easy clean up. You should get a piece of slate and set it in the tank at about a 30 degree angle or so as a spawning site for the angels. When they spawn, you can flip the slate over and set a bubble wand underneath so the eggs are in the bubbles - that helps keep them aerated and helps prevent fungus.

When the fry are born, you're going to want a sponge filter to keep them from getting sucked in the intake.

Clean, soft water is your best bet :)

i would like to try the parrot cichlid, i am looking at a breeding pair, would these be suitable for my tank, and could i keep them in ro water?

No. They get way too big for a 30g. That's just asking for trouble.

Not to mention, since they're hybrid, most are sterile. Even if they lay eggs, they're often not able to be fertilized.
