coconut shells make good caves and will cost about 30p

cut the top off and then split them down the middle. give them a wash and hey presto 1 or 2 caves

and if you cut them right you can stack them up to.

Kul thank also i should mention this cave will be under the sand so its prob a bit high but will make two anyway for my other tanks :) my female bettas love caves :)

Tupperware box with a hole cut in, upside down? Hard to think of safe household objects.

i prefer to use 3 rocks... 2 props and one cave lid... this can be put under the sand quite easily

Thanks this may work as i have tones o left over flat rocks from the way it used to look ill go and investigate :)

what you idealy want it one big flat rock and 2 chubbly little rocks... then put the whole thing under the substrate and cover the top with sand :)

Yeh i have a rock that is about 4" across so thatle work ill prop it on the little rocks and put a rock at the back so the eel dsnt dig his way out as thats the problem i have a banboo orn in there he hides in but he keep going out the back end of it thus making the sand collaps and fall in the cave :(

this website is great has loads and loads of home made fish caves

You could use one of those hot glue guns and melt a bead of plastic around the rocks to the base of the tank... should stop him getting out alright :)

I dont have rocks that fin but mine ll do

With the fish dying he burys himself and travels through the sand so he wont die by being buryd id hope but can never be too sure :)
