What To Put In A 1 Gallon

If you are going to end up putting fish in there the only ones I would recommend would be Danio's or small Rosy Barbs.
Are you kidding me??
What are the exact measurements of this 1gallon tank?

No way, those fish are way too active/energetic for a tiny 1gallon tank.
I suppose so, yeah could get away with one or two depending on the dimensions of the tank i would think.
Uhh no. Why would you keep schooling fish in groups of 1 or two?Rosy Barbs get to be 4 inches in length...

Never mind, didn't read, you have been told off already ;) :p

For a 1gallon stocking, fish stocking options are always going to be very limited. An easier route to take is to go for large ornemental snails, small shrimp and crabs- you could have quite an interesting tank with a filtered mollusc/shrimp community, and would have more options available with these critters than you would do with fish.

Check out snailshop.co.uk- it has a large variety of such critters for sale and is a good reliable place to buy from what i have heard;

I would say a couple white clouds. I kept 2 in a 1 gallon, and they were very happy. And I say 2 kept with a betta in a 2 or 3 gallon

Nope, same problem with the danio's- white clouds are active shoaling fish, too active for a 1gallon tank, and the tank is not big enough to allow a shoal of these fish either way.

IMHO, i can't think of any shoaling fish that are good for anything tank smaller than a 4-5gallon long tank.

I certainly hope you didn't mean fiddlers and red claws when you mentioned crabs.

Although saltwater hermits would be one idea.

i do enjoy it when i read the term "fish were/are very happy"

personally i dont know it my fish are very happy, i wouldnt like to say, i mean they are moving, feeding and not dying but as for "very happy"...................

bit bizarre that peeps still suggesting fish for a 1 gallon, how do peeps end up with such a silly size tank (for fish) anyway? Except for Betta owning peeps of course

eh i wouldnt even dream of keeping ANY fish in that size tank EVER

What makes a fish happy, is it smiling? How would you know it was happy, i find it pretty darn impossible for people to determine if a fish is happy or not.

agree 100%

My Parrots sometimes look like they are smiling, but thats because they cant physically shut their mouth, perhaps they just happy LOL

But equally, how can you tell it's unhappy when there are no physical signs (eg, lethargy, illness, loss of colour) to suggest it's so? Works both ways.

Of course it does, i dont think anyone said any different did they?

I see I have sparked quite the debate

From the sounds of it I won't be putting any fish in it, but maybe some other aquatic animals.

I think I'm leaning towards one or two shrimp and a small snail (like a single trumpet snail). And some sort of live plant.

I do plan on using one of them as a tank for my platy fry if/when they come.
