No I thought you were talking about kaivalagi. But was double checking, I was confused cause I was thinking 'Wait a sec...I'm sure I didn't mention my project on here'. But I have mentioned it elsewhere. I was tired lol, it was all getting a bit blurry.
Breeding blue tiger and crystal red shrimp in a 60l that I'm currently on the hunt for.
I've got a couple of tanks that are pretty much perfect that I could buy. It's now down to the price they're wanting and who gets back to me sooner.
I'll be dividing it into two 30l sections and planting up heavily with low light level plants. It should be pretty low maintenance and hopefully look good. Cant wait to get started but things are on hold till I have a tank, then until I've cycled it (though I'll be cloning my current filter so it shouldn't take long), then I need to move over what is left of my current stocking (by then it should just be the kuhli loach and snail). And THEN I need to sell up all of my old equipment so I can start getting the 60l ready for new occupants (ie. make/buy a divider and mod the filter).
Only then can I even think about buying shrimp. I have suppliers lined up but they don't have any blue tigers in at the mo. I could order seperately but with delivery would obviously like to order as a big group. The recent cold weather spell has been an issue for importers.
In short, easter will be a fun time
No I haven't seen those shrimp before, sorry.
I just did a little bit of googling and dragged up an old graph I found awhile ago. Looks like it'll be around 24days for a berried female to hatch her eggs. Then around 4months for the shrimp to mature and get to breeding age. I should have a few CRS available by Nov/Dec but the Blue tigers will be a decent amount longer.
It certainly will be a long term project, but it's one I'm ready for. Cause I really do enjoy watching them amble about. So pretty.
PDSimon - Nope, fully freshwater breeding cycle. Blue Tigers are actually very closely related to CRS hence why I have to seperate them. But it does make breeding the two species in the same water much easier. Optimum conditions/temp for one being the same for the other And it's cheaper running just the one tank
So long as it's playsand (ie. safe for children). Then yes it's all the same stuff.

Thanks
Have to wait until mon/tues to get my tank still
