Hi, what sort of paint do I use to paint the outside of the tank. Don't really want to use the paper backgrounds and have seen some great tanks with black walls.

I followed your advice to remove the sealant - many thanks for help

I am sure I'll be back with other questions - this is a great site for newbies to the hobby

Krylon spray enamel Clean the glass with alcohol, make sure the glass is room temp cover the top of the tank with several layers of paper and tape securly
use several light coats instead of one heavy allowing time to dry in between -Anne

Thanks for that, I did it last night and it looks really good. I have a jewel tank with internal box filter in the corner and it really hides it well. Am thinking about doing the sides as well but do you think that would be too much and make the tank look smaller?

I am going to get the substrate this weekend and start the interior decor. I have bogwood and want to use real plants. Should I get them at the same time or do I need to cycle the tank empty before planting?

Thanks again.

you doing fishless cycling?

I decided against painting any more of the tank, hopefully the plants will screen the side walls.

Yes, I think I might try it the fishless way. I've not kept fish before and would like to get it right first time if I can.

Thanks for taking the time to help.
