Does any one know what shrimp this is. I got it in a batch of cherry shrimp all of them have turned red except this one that's turned brown with the stripe.

Sorry if this is in the wrong section please feel free to move it.

it looks like a well camouflaged Bamboo/Rock shrimp.

yes they do, i'm sure they need a Brackish environment to hatch them though.

Yeah I was just reading up on them now. Ah well there goes my cherry only tank.

Weird thought it went from crystal clear to looking like that.

Thanks Ianho

it really looks like a bamboo/rock shrimp to me too, except they're MUCH bigger than cherries! I presume it is bigger? If it isn't then it MIGHT be an amano, they sometimes turn a brown/orange/tan colour.

It's not much bigger it looked like an ammano at first then it started changing colour.

I have a female cherry shrimp which isn't quite as pink as the others and carries darker almost green eggs but read that its just an other strain of cherry shrimp. I could be wrong but read that somewhere

Hmmm. it really does look very bamboo like to me, but mine are about 3 inches long. I guess they all have to start small at some time!

Definitely not a cherry shrimp then if it's already 3 inches. You can also rule out Amano. Does it have fan-like appendages with which it catches food and puts it into it's mouth? If yes, then it's a Bamboo Shrimp. They are peaceful with cherry shrimp and will grow about 5 inches. They like a strong current where they will always stay unless there isn't enough food in the water column...then they will scavenge on the ground for something to eat.

Mines not 3 inches. Its only about 1 inch same size as most my other cherry shrimp. It looks exactly the same just diffrent colour.

Well if it starts getting massive at least then you'll know :D

Like everyone said, they're peaceful though so if it turns out to be a bamboo shrimp you can always remove it I suppose.
