Hmmm. it really does look very bamboo like to me, but mine are about 3 inches long. I guess they all have to start small at some time!
Definitely not a cherry shrimp then if it's already 3 inches. You can also rule out Amano. Does it have fan-like appendages with which it catches food and puts it into it's mouth? If yes, then it's a Bamboo Shrimp. They are peaceful with cherry shrimp and will grow about 5 inches. They like a strong current where they will always stay unless there isn't enough food in the water column...then they will scavenge on the ground for something to eat.
Mines not 3 inches. Its only about 1 inch same size as most my other cherry shrimp. It looks exactly the same just diffrent colour.
It's normal to see much different colours within neocaridina heterpoda. Cherry shrimp never used to be red, they were selectively bred for that colour. I have some dark plum shrimp with cream coloured stripe down their back and I have brown tiger and blue tiger shrimp as well. You can get green and yellow too plus I've also seen a couple in my tank which are almost black. They are all the same kind of shrimp just different colour. This may be what you have. In any case, it's interesting because once you start getting the different colour variations breeding, you never know what colour combo you'll end up with next.
