Garter snakes can give off a musky smell when upset. I use to play with them when I was a kid, never got bitten by one, they weren't pets they were out in the yard or in the park. They are also livebearers. If I was to chose from your list I would go for the scorpion or tarantula. Pac man frogs are neat little couch potatoes.
