I would have a go at the couriers, and if you get more fish by courier, make sure the box has "LIVE FISH" "URGENT" "OVERNIGHT DELIVERY" "DO NOT LEAVE IN HOLDING AREA" written on the box. Then make sure the courier company can deliver it overnight. If they can't guarantee overnight delivery, don't get the fish or make the courier company pay for the dead fish.

Surely that is the vendor's responsibility.
In the UK buying 4 corys online would not be economically viable because shipping would cost more than the fish (at least from a reputable supplier). But they always pick up and deliver exactly when they say - and packing is not the courier's responsibility.

They have us over a barrel. . I opened a dispute with PayPal.

Hope that goes well, I have never had a problem with paypal but there is always a first time.

They have a policy of not writing “Live Fish” for some stupid reason that made no sense. Said they tend to get pushed back at postal service.

They aren't putting live fish on the box because they are using normal shipping, and that means the couriers aren't taking precautions with the fish.

In Australia we can have normal shipping for dry goods, or we can state Live Fish on the boxes and pay a bit more for overnight shipping. The couriers take more care with Live Stock.

A lot to chew on here. Was sure @Colin_T would say something about meth blue being bad, so I was surprised at what he said. You learn something new everyday. I'm just leery of chemicals. I don't even use dechlorinator anymore. Went totally old school and age my water for two weeks. I'm of the opinion that shipping fish ain't so great. I'm going to support my local yokel LFS and buy whatever they have and be happy. Good for them and restores the fun I had years ago when you'd pop into the shop and find something you had never seen before.

Methylene Blue is one of the safer chemicals used in aquariums, however it doesn't work as well these days due to over-use for the last 50 years.

If you have chlorine in the tap water, then you can leave new water to stand/ aerate for a week to get rid of the chlorine. However, if you have chloramine in the tap water, you need something to break the chlorine/ ammonia bond so the chlorine can come out. A basic dechlorinator that contains Sodium Thiosulphate will do the job, just check the ammonia level after to make sure it's safe.

Both of the deliveries today had the Live Fish on box. It was just that Manzanita One that wouldn’t do it. I always mark mine.

@Colin_T I have chlorine only in my city water according to them but thank you for bringing that up about the chloramine, a lot of people don't seem aware of that or that there's a difference. The dechlorinator doesn't appear to go away. I check my R/O water with aTDS meter. With dechlorinator it jumps up and without it stays at 4 PPM.

With mine. They would replace my dead fish but I have to pay the shipping for it. I said I wouldn’t pay shipping for one fish , ridiculous. No refund , so they said next time I place an order , they will ship the fish to me with that order no charge. . . So I guess I have no choice but to place another order soon ... which I didn’t want to do.

People always spread bad news more than good news. If you have a bad experience with a business, you are going to tell others about it. Whereas most people that have good experiences with a business don't always tell others.

But yeah, nothing like a bit of bad publicity to encourage companies to help out a bit and help speed up the resolution process.
