what should i do?

I have currently noticed that my five serpae tetras are ferociously nipping the fins of all my fish in my 29 gallon tank, i want to get rid of them but i dont know how? Petsmart most likely wont take them and the arent any fish stores near by, and i cant kill them because im to selfconcaus. what should i do?

Anyways, you could go to "buy sell and swap" on this forum and ask people if they are willing to take them. I don't think that very many people are able to sell any of their fish, but you could give it a try.

Tetras are fin nippers by nature (mine certainly are). It would be best to get rid of them. If you can't you could try adding a few more in hopes that this will curb aggression.

Some years ago I lived in Denver and, if I remember correctly, it was a very big city. I'm sure you will be able to find a lfs who will take your fish if you look around.

In the meanwhile, why don't you think about switching them with the fish you have in your 10 gallon tank? I think those fish will be alright with the fish in your 29 and the troublemakers will be isolated.



P.S. I couldn't just kill a fish like that, either. If it was sick and wasn't going to get better, it's different. Then it's an act of kindness.

thanks for the responses. i know where some fish stores are but there are ssome problems: one being the closest one is like more than 20 miles away and the second being im 14. thanks any way

Use the internet. I've bought and sold many fish on forums like this. Advertise it in the classified thread that you have free fish. Someone will take them. I gave away a Jag like that this week actually. for the couple bucks credit I'd get at the lfs I'd as soon give it to a home.

Mine were like that, I added a few more....now there is ten of them and they only chase each other and dont bother any of the other fish.
