I have stones at the bottom of my tank and i have a T8 bulb?

Bulb wattage and how many, tank volume, stock list and are you willing to dose CO2 and ferts?

The bulb is:

Arcadia
Original Tropical
FO18-(24",600mm)
The plant growth lamp

Assuming thats 18watt?

Appox 90l

At the minute i have about 8 apple snails, 2 assassin snails and 5 guppies, might be changing stock and getting cichlids soon.

If theres any that dont need co2 thats better for me

If you have 18 watts over 23 gallons, that's pretty low light, but you should still be able to grow some plants.

Try Anubias, Cryptocoryne species, Java fern, Java moss, maybe Amazon swords and, if your water is on the hard side, Vallisneria.

Your tank inhabitants might produce enough waste to feed the plants, but if they don't, you can add a general fertiliser. With that level of lighting and those plants there shouldn't be any need for carbon addition.

Give them something like 8 hours of light per day and see how things go. :)

Thank you i might give some Anubias and Amazon Swords a go, need to get my nitrates down and get some more stock i think before i get them or shal i do the plants before adding more fish?

Hang about...just realised you have 8 Apple snails. I've never kept them but apparently they eat a lot of aquatic vegetation :/

You may find they munch their way through everything I've suggested, in which case you need a more informed opinion than mine, I'm afraid.

Sorry :(

need to get my nitrates down

No you don't :good:

I do ive lost about 15 guppies and nitrates was only thing wrong when i took my water to pets at home to be tested lol.

I might get rid of the apple snails and get a couple of plecs tho, hopefully they will do a better job at eating algae then the snails are doing.
