i have an empty , cycled 350l tank and would like to exploere the world of cichlids but was wondering if i could have some opinions on which would be a) suitable and b) would go together

the tank is an odd shape 42lx30hx17d if that matters?

thanks

That's 92 us gal. You have a few options here. Just remember that cichlids have a mind of their own so even the so called peacful ones and turn into crazy aggressive fish. So just keep that in mind it does not always happen but it can.

I had a blue acara male that killed my bolviana ram. I have a female blue acara that lives happily with my new rams.

Most mid size cichlids that don't get larger then 6-7" would be fine in a tank of that size.

So go start doing your homework. Find fish you like and we can help you with tankmates.

In that case how about

1 EB~JD
1 red-spotted Severum
1 T.Ellioti
7 Colombian Tetra
3 Hoplos
1 Royal pleco

That would work. It's kind of what my stocking is going to be like.

I have a ebjd and he is the best. I want to get a red spot severum to go with him they would look awesome together. Right now I have a severum with him and they are good tank mates.

With the Ebjd is a good idea to keep them in their own tank so you can make sure they are feeding well and growing. They don't do well with stress. At 3" or bigger they are stronger and should live a normal happy life.

How about honduran red points firemouths or rainbow cichlids? Or the geophagus route? Star4 has the firemouths cousin for sale in the livestock section!
